Finisterre is a place that no visitor to Galicia should miss. That’s why we offer two tours to Finisterre from Santiago, so you can choose the one that best fits your plans. If you have a bit more time, take a look at this one. If you don’t want to get up early or you have just enough time, this tour to Finisterre express is tailor-made for you.
The first stop of our tour of ‘a costa da morte’ is in Muxía. We will walk the last stretch of the Way of St. James until we reach km. 0 of this variant. There you will find the impressive baroque sanctuary dedicated to the Virgen de la Barca, a place of wild beauty, where the stones are sacred and the Atlantic Ocean breaks with force.
Here you will fill your lungs with pure sea air and take some of your best photos. In the meantime, we will tell you the legend of the sanctuary and the sacred stones.
We will continue to Cape Finisterre, the end of the world for the Romans and Greeks, and the border between the world of the living and the dead in Celtic cultures. You will see the km. 0 of the Camino between Santiago and Finisterre and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views over the estuary.
In the village of Fisterra we will stop for lunch. You will be able to taste the exquisite local gastronomy, famous for the quality of its products and you will have time to walk around the village and its fishing port. You will fall in love with its seafaring atmosphere and the originality of its streets and houses.
Afterwards we will return to Santiago, where we plan to arrive around 18h.
