    Mosteiro de Carboeiro

After visiting the fervenza of Toxa we will go to the monastery of Carboeiro. Former Benedictine monastery abandoned and in the process of restoration by the Provincial Council. It is the most remarkable architectural work of late Romanesque in Galicia, constituting one of the most characteristic monuments of Galician mediaeval art. For some authors, Maestro Mateo, director of the reforms of the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the second half of the 12th century, could be responsible for this project.
