This route through Ribeira Sacra will make you fall in love from the beginning. The adventure begins with an hour and a half catamaran ride to contemplate the Sil canyons.
Throughout the tour you will be able to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the landscape. Curious rock formations that the river has excavated over time are mixed with vineyards and ancient forests. The navigation is very calm and relaxing. You will also be able to taste the typical wine of the area, made with Mencía grapes and with its own denomination of origin.
Afterwards, we will go up to the Cabezoás viewpoint, one of the highest in the area, at 850 metres above sea level! This viewpoint offers a spectacular panoramic view over one of the deepest areas of the river canyon. It will leave you with some beautiful photos to remember.
Next we will go into the heart of the Ribeira Sacra to discover the incredible Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas, which is believed to have been founded in the 6th century. It is therefore said to be one of the oldest in Galicia. It is worth seeing its church carved into the rock and the unique and varied architectural elements it houses.
The last stop of this route through Ribeira Sacra is a visit to Ourense, the thermal capital of Galicia. We will have free time for lunch and a stroll through its impressive old town. You will be surprised by its cobbled streets, dotted with charming corners and historical monuments. You will also discover why it is called the city of bridges.
From Orense we return to Santiago, where we plan to arrive around 19h.
